How do I survive the holidays without gaining 10 pounds?
It happens every year….
You tell yourself….
This year will be DIFFERENT.
This year, I will not get triggered by my family, I will not drink too much egg nog or wine or booze, I will not say inappropriate things to those un-named family members that feel the need to constantly insert their opinion into my universe unsolicited.
This year, I will not over eat, I will not use food to numb the pain for the trauma and drama that I experienced my entire child hood. I will not get upset when my mother re-gifts me a terrible cowboy shirt that I would never wear in a million years.
And this year, I will not let my body go. I do not want to start another year feeling slightly pudgy, overweight, sluggish, and tired. And this year, I will not join a gym and only go for the first 3 weeks and then give up feeling discouraged by the lack of results I see.
And this year I will not over eat, and then get discouraged, and then feel upset, and then overeat and start the cycle all over again.
Every year, you tell yourself this story, and every year you go back to the old patterns.
